Critical Inquiry - How can I improve quality teaching through digital technology?
To improve quality teaching through digital technology I believe students/ākonga must be proficient in the fundamental uses of their tools and applications. In Poumua for Matihiko, we as a team decided we each enhance the google modules in our matihiko program. I chose Google Slides as a means for presentation of work and upskilling ourselves in all the features Google slides have to offer.
How to teach information literacy and research skills
The topic of researching and filtering information can be broken down in so many ways but I believe the best approach involves:
- Starting young and building on skills
- Embedding explicit teaching and mini-lessons regularly
- Providing lots of opportunity for practice and feedback
- Teachers seeking to improve their own skills (it’s easy to stick with old habits!)
